We hired a driver to take us on a tour around the Cebu and Mactan areas for a day.
The first stop was Sirao Flower Garden, which was a picturesque garden in the top of the mountains. Apparently tons of people go there just to take pictures they can put on Facebook or whatever social media site kids use these days.
We went to the Temple of Leah, which was a monument a wealthy man created in memory of his wife.
We visited Fort San Pedro, which is the oldest fort in the Philippines. The walls are made of coral.
We stayed at a Radisson Blu. It’s a really fancy business hotel, but I think I would have enjoyed a resort more.
We were standing outside trying to flag down a taxi and a guy asked my friend and me (in Tagalog), “Are you together?” We replied in the affirmative. Of course we’re together–can’t you see we know each other? After that, he just looked at us with a mix between a stare and a smirk and we realized he meant if we’re a couple. We had to clarify that we were just friends. You’d think we would have learned the first time, but this happened several times throughout the trip.
