Last weekend, we went to Google campus in Fremont for Seattle Startup Weekend 2. It was a really good time. There were 150 people there (including programmers, designers, businesspeople, lawyers, and others) all with the intention of creating and launching a business in the weekend. It was even featured on the news.
To begin with, everybody and anybody who had an idea for a business got up and gave a one minute pitch. Based on demand, some ideas got eliminated. Then everybody gravitated toward the idea/team that interested them the most. Angela and I decided to join a project that came to be called TripChamp. In a nutshell, it’s a competition website for eco-friendly travel. We got to work with Dave Albano, Kevin Leneway, Nina Strasser, and Elizabeth Grigg. It was a great team and we got a lot of good work done. Various companies sponsored our food throughout the day. In one of our lunches, we got mini apples!
If you’re interested in the more technical aspects of the weekend, I describe it on my boogly blog.
