Las Vegas!!

We took a trip to Las Vegas for my cousin’s wedding. It was a really fun trip, but the heat and dust was ridiculous. We found ourselves planning out where we were going based on where there would be air conditioning and how hot it would be.

We decided to try some fancy hotels out since they are heavily subsidized by people who think they can beat statistics. Our first hotel was Palms Place and is now my favorite hotel ever! Just look at the pictures!

There’s a much larger Filipino population in Vegas than here, so I was excited to get some good fooood! We went to a Filipino buffet, but unfortunately we didn’t take a picture. But we did go to Jollibee (the equivalent of McDonald’s) twice!

We toured the Hoover Dam. The tours and everything were really well-organized, probably because so many people tour the place since they’ve seen it in the movies. The tour was grossly over-packed with “dam” jokes. All the engineering and thinking that went into it was pretty amazing. They said the upkeep of the dam was entirely self-sufficient from the energy generated there. They didn’t say whether tourism contributed, but I estimate that they give tours to about 500 people per hour…and they charged $10-30 per person.

California Pizza Kitchen

A couple of weeks ago, Jon and I went to try out the California Pizza Kitchen down in Bellevue. We had a giftcard from our credit card rewards and we’re not known to say no to a free meal It turned out to be really good. Our waitress was super helpful and we were pretty daring so we tried some weird things. For an appetizer we got these panko breaded artichoke hearts, yum! Then for the pizzas we got the Thai Chicken and a Sante Fe. The Thai Chicken had a sweet peanut sauce and was super good. The Sante Fe came with salsa, guac and sour cream and was pretty good too. We’ll definately be going back!

Jon and I have blogged about this place in the past, but we went there last night and had another great experience. We go there because they take the resturant.com coupons that you can get online sometimes for dirt cheap. This time we got a small meat nacho appetizer, it was sooooo yummy and huge!!! It was only $6, a real steal even without a coupon. Jon ordered a really big burrito and I got an Enchilada platter. The plate as about a foot wide it was huge! I only took a couple bites and was stuffed. We ordered fried ice cream (of course) and the churro plate. The churro’s weren’t really worth the price considering the fact that you can get a really good churro at Costco for $1. Next time any of you are in town, we’ll take you here! We always order enough food for 4~

Hong Kong Bakery

We discovered a little Hong Kong style bakery this week. It’s called Regent Cafe and it’s so good! The egg tarts are super yum and they have those HK style cakes I love!

Santa Fe Mexican Grill

We kept seeing on slickdeals an offer by restaurant.com where you can get $25 gift certificates for $2. We were hesitant to try this at first, but Eileen generously gave us a restaurant.com gift certificate. We decided to use it to go to Santa Fe Mexican Grill.

When we walked in, we were impressed by the nicely decorated environment and its cleanliness. The seating was very well-designed, with high-back booths to increase the feel of privacy. The center of the restaurant was raised, which gave it a trendy, but comfortable feel.

We ordered a Super Nachos, Super Burrito, Enchiladas Verdes, and a fried ice cream. It was all REALLY GOOD FOOD! The portions were generous and it tasted good. The service was extremely fast too!

Meet the Fuzz Wizard! Just about one of the best inventions ever! A couple weeks ago I washed a new yellow towel with my other colors and it got fuzzies all over my sweaters . We got this sweater shaver hoping it’d help fix the problem and it was great! My sweaters are like new! I’ve de-fuzzed just about every sweater I’ve got . It takes off all the pills and fuzzies and makes your sweater flat again! We found it for $10 at Target, Fry’s and a $12 look alike at Bed Bath and Beyond.
